Hi all! I am a woman who’s got her first taste of freedom: The kids are off to college and I am taking a break from a writing/editing/publishing career. For the first time in decades, I am relatively stress free. I remarried a few years ago and life has gotten much better … all except for one thing. The drinking habits I picked up along the way are still here. And worsening. And the piper is ready to get paid.
After many fits and starts, I started blogging in an effort to stay connected to people on the same journey as I am. And I set a lofty goal: one year of sobriety. I barely made it out of the gate before having to start over, but that’s OK. I deal in hope and forgiveness these days.
Thanks for stopping by.

UPDATE: On March 31 of last year, I made it to one year! I attribute my success to the blogging online community. If you’re looking for a way to start/continue/finish this sober journey, why not start a blog? It’s free at WordPress, and you will have a wonderful community to support you.
Never have truer words been said than this: If I can do it, anyone can.
SECOND UPDATE: Two year’s sober. Un-freaking-believable. Seriously.
Fall down 1000 times, get up 1001.
Hey – so glad we found each other’s blogs. Sounds like we have similar stories. I look forward to reading more.

You, and many others in this soberverse, give me hope. I just have to have faith that it’s worth it! I recently started my blog 11 days ago and have found it a life line. If you can do it, then I’ll believe I can too.

It worked for me, Dana. And nothing else had. That should give you hope!! Where is your blog? Or is it public yet?

Thank you so much! I apologize for the delay in responding — I’ve been on the road. And thank you for the encouragement. Blogging is weird in that unless you get a comment back, you feel like you’re just sending this stuff out into outer space. Love your photos, by the way. ; )

Thank you, Lindsay! My friends still have tons of drinking photos on their pages. It’s like all they ever do, if you didn’t know better.

Two years! Absolutely amazing. Your story is proof that one day at a time those small decision matter. In sobriety and creation 😉 Now…what’s that story waiting to be written today? I can’t wait to read it… Xx

Great milestone! I credit writing a blog about my experiences in giving up drinking as one of the main reasons why I gave up and managed to keep that way.
